Red was born and raised in Pallet Town, Kanto. He grew up being best friends with a young boy named Blue, the Pokémon Professor's grandson. After he suddenly turned into a bully, they stopped being friends. Afterwards, Red began having an interest in Pokémon. One day, Professor Oak called Red and Blue to his lab to choose a starter Pokémon. Red began with Charmander, bonding well with the Fire-type. Training from day to day, he finally challenged the Pokémon League, becoming the Champion of Kanto!

Whilst in Viridian Forest, Red came across a clumsy Pikachu whom he became friends with. Having a picnic, the Electric-type was stealing the Poké Puffs which frustrated all the Pokémon. After running after Pikachu, Red finally captured it! The Mouse Pokémon helped his Trainer challenge all eight Gyms in Kanto. His main partner, they share a special bond which cannot be broken!

One day, Professor Oak called Red to his lab to choose a starter Pokémon, along with Blue. Red chose Charmander. They challenged all eight Gyms in Kanto, thus evolving into a Charmeleon, then a powerful Charizard. Gaining two mysterious stones from Mr. Fuji, he can Mega Evolve Charizard into Mega Charizard X, becoming a powerful Fire/Dragon Pokémon!

After becoming an experienced Trainer, Professor Oak gave him both a Bulbasaur and Squirtle. Red trained them both from day to day. Bulbasaur became extremely powerful, evolving into an Ivysaur and then into Venusaur.

Whilst traveling in Johto, Red nearly drowned in the ocean, but a Lapras came and saved him. Afterwards, Red thanked it, befriending Lapras. He captured it, training the Water/Ice Pokémon everyday. It is now one of Red's most powerful Pokémon!

Red came across Snorlax blocking his path on a bridge, so he obtained a Poké Flute to awaken it. Afterwards, he captured Snorlax much to its surprise. It is now very powerful, but yet lazy!

Whilst in Johto, Professor Elm gave Red an egg, thus Red wondering what it would hatch into. It eventually hatched into a shy Eevee, which made Red very happy. Eevee got used to Red and became very powerful, evolving into an Espeon! Later going on many travels, he left the Psychic-type at Professor Oak's lab.
